Membership information

The admission path to one of the S.V.L. Helios lodges follows traditional Masonic principles, with a clear and contemporary communication process for candidates.

Basic requirements for candidates

We view a candidate as a person ready to work seriously on character and responsibly accept the obligations that membership carries.

A free person of good reputation: integrity, personal honesty, and a life without acts that damage reputation are expected.
Financial independence: membership dues and charitable contributions should be sustainable, without compromising family security.
Belief in a Supreme Being: Freemasonry is not a religion, but it assumes acceptance of a higher creative principle.
Legal adulthood: the usual minimum is 21 years, with rare exceptions in special circumstances.

Admission procedure

Freemasonry does not recruit members. The first step always comes from the candidate and personal initiative.

Introductory conversation with lodge members in an informal setting.
Candidate review with a focus on motives, biography, and readiness for work.
Ballot (secret vote) in the lodge regarding candidate admission.
Initiation into the Entered Apprentice degree, if the decision is positive.

What is important before applying

Candidates who come with a sincere desire for inner development, learning, and service to the community progress best.

Motivation: serious self-work is expected, not a search for business or political benefits.
Time: regular attendance at lodge works and active participation in the brotherhood are expected.
Discretion: membership implies preserving the confidentiality of conversations, brethren identities, and ritual work.
